Make The Most Of Your Facebook Events

When you are setting up a NEW Local entertainment Facebook Event ( you should be sure it is “PUBLIC” NOT “PRIVATE”) it should be your goal to structure it so that it reaches or gets in front of the largest audience or maximum number of people who would be interested in attending in reasonable geographic area, especially for local entertainment events. For example” If you are promoting an event in a specific city you want to aim your event to the people in that city and an area 15 to 25 miles around that city. ( WHY? You want to get the message out to people who have a reasonable chance to get to the event- No need to tell people in Orlando about an event in Tampa for a local act and business)

1. Title and Description

Make The Most Of Your Facebook Events

Best practices to structure a local event:

Title: Include artist/band, venue, city and state and keep it to 60 characters.

Why? Google and other search engines like to see it this way and tends to push to top of search results = More exposure traffic!

Description: Say something about artist, performer and venue. Keep description at 160-230Characters. (Can be longer google usually includes the first 160 characters in Search snippet)

2. Event Date-Time and Schedule

Enter Category(Helps people find the event). You can load in date and time once if it is not a recurring event.

If it is a recurring event (Event that repeats more than once a month in a specific location), use the daily, weekly or custom option in drop down. If it is recurring but not weekly use the CUSTOM OPTION!

3. Include Co Hosts!

Name Venue Page as Co Host!

WHY? Once the co host invitation is accepted, the event will show up on the venue page it will automatically appear on the page in its Events section and in feed. This gives all the people who “LIKED” and follow your event. Example: If venue page has 1000, 2000, 5000 people who follow that page, those people will be notified of your event!

  • Share your event on your timeline, on your your page, on your venues page by naming the venue as a co host and in groups!
  • Specifically for events in Tampa Bay you should “LIKE” page and name Entertainment Weekly Calendar as Co Host on your Events. Why? Events will automatically by published on https://weeklycalendar.info/ and other pages throughout internet.
  • Promote using Facebook ads. This option can be expensive and ineffective If you don’t define your target audience. To avoid throwing money away, call 727-238-5147 for a free consultation.
